Watched a couple of races today at Fakenham & the novice chase was the best on the card where Tim Vaughan & Richard Johnson both had trebles. I backed Busker Royal from Henderson's yard & it did end up winning however the last fence fall of market rival Eleazar helped a little, as was still in front at that stage & with a short run in may have held off the henderson trained horse.

I think both can win races this season if kept away from the bigger races.

Disappointing day for me today although Tidal Bay ran a good race behind Monets Garden & there is a race for this horse this year, maybe the Ryan Air at Cheltenham come March.

Reve De Sivola ploughed through the soft ground to win at Chepstow & is possibly still improving.

Isnt that lucky, Three mirrors & Tartak all ran poorly but i still expect them to figure at some point this season.

4 runners from the list today

Bowleaze 2nd
Henry King 2nd
Irish Raptor 4th
Dunguib 1st

Sounds like they all ran well today.

Time to get serious & update this blog. To date, horses i would like to comment on are below.

Thursday 15th October

Some Present runs in the 2.45 race at Punchestown tomorrow after finishing 2nd in the Champion Bumper 10L behind runaway winner Dunguib. Will be interested to see how this fares as i have selected a number form that bumper to keep an eye on this season. It may need much softer ground to be at its best though. If it wins well, i may add it also.

Wins @ 13/8 fav. Didnt see the race but pleased it came in.

Thursday 15 October - Ludlow

The Package is finally let loose again over the bigger obstacles after 4 decent chase efforts last season - 3rd, 6th , 2nd & 2nd. The last being a very decent 2nd to New Little Bric at Newbury over 20f. Pipe elected to then finish the season over hurdles & perhaps he knows the horse is decent & didnt want the now 6yo penalised for this season. if this hacks up, it will go in my list & possibly an early ante post bet for any entries i notice.

2nd @ 4/7f. Plenty short enough & for some reason didnt want to go down & then didnt want to pass the winner in the final straight. Went down by a nk. Will look out for the fallout from the race and what Pipe has to say.

Friday 16th October

Three Mirrors runs at Cheltenham over 3m 1/2f and has its ground tomorrow as acts far better on faster ground than soft. Raced at the track 3 times last season endin in a 21L defeat in 4th at the festival over 2m 5f on ground softer than ideal.

In the same race, Maljimar runs from Nick Williams stable. Won at the track last season over 2m 5f when rated 126. Had to race off 142 tomorrow and may well be too high now in the weights as a 9yo. Pulled up in the John Smith hcap chase at Aintree on final start over 3m 1f. Needs a good test of stamina & may well pick up a decent chase during the season.

Watched this race with some interest today. Maljimar ran its usual true race to finish 2nd to Nelson Spice. It led over the last & was collared in the last 100 yds by McCoy up the hill.

Three Mirrors ran the 1st 3/4 mile with its head in a very strange low position literally on the floor! Murphy's often need a run & this was a typical performance with the horse given an easy time at the back of the field & i am sure they learned a lot again today. Will watch for this one again in the spring i think.

Snap Tie won its first attempt over fences & will be interested to see where it goes next. Glad they took it up 4 out & asserted from the front.

Well pleased with the win of Mister Apples with Ollie Greenall on board. 9/1 was a great price also, take note of the 2nd & 3rd also who could both win this season. Gaora Lane & Runshan.

Todays racing at Worcester was fairly low key although we saw the introduction of The Paul Nicholls trained Pride of Dulcotewho will stay 3m well & should be aimed at the RSA chase at Cheltenham. It went off at very skinny odds today but should be in a decent race next time out

Of the others, i think Orbital Orchid who took the Novices hurdle for Nick Williams can win again so will keep an eye out for that one

One of my list runs today - Mirage Dore from Rose Dobbin's stable. I will keep a watching brief until she saddles a winner in here new role as a trainer as so far from 10 runs, has 0 winners & 1 place to her name, she knows the horse well as used to ride it for Lucinda Russell. I expect a close run race today with Doeslessthanme from Howard Johnson's stable also in the field & Songe from Longsdons stable. The 1st 3 in this race could be worth following through the season

The 1st classics of the flat season take place at the weekend at Racing HQ Newmarket. Not all the market leaders have ran this season therefore will the trials be any value as previous years have shown that 1st time up horses can win these races. Delegator may not even run in the 2000 Guineas now & the O'Brien pair are lining up behind to contest favouritism. Evasive from Stoutes stable impressed me last season & at 9/1 with Paddy power looks a great EW bet.
In the 1000 guineas, talk of defeat for the favourite is out of the question & at 11/8, Rainbow View will take some beating after what it did last seaosn as a 2yo. I would advise taking that price !!

Well, we were so busy over the Cheltenham week, we didnt update the blog! Hopefully our blog entires over the last 6 months helped pin point some winners, we had some decent success with Big Bucks ante post @ 14's & were mighty close with Kalahari King & Celestial Halo in thier respective races.
We are now looking forward to the flat & will be looking at the main 3yo & 4yo races through the next month. We had the winner on Saturday of the first feature race The Lincoln & the winner - Expresso Star looks like it could make a group horse, will be interesting to see where it heads next & should be followed.
However, we also have the small matter of the Grand National meeting in the next few days, so look out for our daily tips on that meeting.

Until the best racing on the planet in my opinion. Recent results i have noted are the victories of 3 horses - Voy per Ustedes who is now a clear warm favourite for the RyanAir chase especially with doubts over 2nd fav Tidal bay participation. The next one was Imsingingtheblues who at 10/1 represents decent each way value in the Arkle chase, its victory at doncaster was a decent effort & the horse has cheltenham form. The last to mention is Torphichen from David Pipe's stable who hacked up in a decent novice hurdle at Sandown & is now 8/1 for the Supreme Novices Hurdle, gets a handy weight allowance but the race is difficult for a 4yo to win, can see this placed at least.
